Session description

Find out how engaging students in globally interconnected projects provides learners opportunities to use technology to learn about and appreciate other cultures. You'll discover how intercultural collaboration allows students to empathize with others, value different perspectives and understand in greater depth the impact of crises in health and the environment that span the world.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this poster presentation is to share information about projects that allow students to connect across the globe with other students, and to provide guidance in the benefits of those connections. Objectives include demonstrating technology tools that can be used to facilitate global connections and sharing artifacts of successful global interactions. Instructional technology tools include (but are not limited to): videoconferences, Padlet, Twitter, Flip, VoiceThread, Kahoot!

Artifacts from global connections and student/parent/teacher feedback provide evidence of success.

Outline

Content to be presented includes different opportunities for attendees to participate in global activities with their students. Examples include the Global Read Aloud, iEarn, ePals

Technology tools to facilitate global connections between learners will also be shared. These include videoconferences, Padlet, Twitter, Flip, VoiceThread, Kahoot!

Artifacts, including student work, reflections, and feedback from stakeholders, will demonstrate the benefits of global interconnectedness.
