I am the Instructional Media/Technology/CTE-STEM Teacher at Aurora Frontier P-8 in Aurora Colorado and an educator for 30 years. Session description

Ignite your students' passion for creative learning with a purpose! Get ready to help ignite their passions with work-based Learning! You don’t have to be a CTE teacher or have special tools, just an understanding of how to leverage work-based learning to bring STEM/STEAM concepts to your classroom.

Purpose & objective

For both the Poster or Interactive Formats-
Purpose-to share ways to use Makerspace and classroom stations to build work-based learning behaviors that also build creative classroom learners through the following ways:
Genius Hours
Project/Inquiry based-learning focuses on learning skills and strategies
Makerspace Stations
Middle School-CTE Classrooms

Outline

For the Poster Format:
Participants will be able to view a slide show showing students working at MakerSpace CTE stations in different learning environments and content
The following posters will be viewable on the bulletin board:
QR code for resources for a station template to use to design Makerspace CTE Stations will be displayed.
The Template design and resources used to create the templates
I will be available for questions and comments

Interactive Format
-Participants will enter the room that has been set up like my CTE Makerspace Stations in my classroom to invite participation in differentiated CTE Makerspace stations focused on Communication.
5 min-Welcome and Introduction of myself and stations
15 min communication creation by participants, I will be roving and communicating with participants
10 min Use of Communication Tools (business card, logo, email, voicemail introduction created so participants get to know 1 other person in the room
5 min shareout of experience
2 min Work-based Learning Expectations how to find, how to integrate into the classroom
15 min begin station design for participant's content
5 min closing, evaluation, questions
