Session description

Hear about our experience in collaborating on a cross-curriculum weather report project with kindergarten students from a low-income district where 90% of students are high-need. Students' finished weather reports will be shared, along with strategies for implementation in any classroom.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this presentation is to share the importance of giving access to technology in under-privelaged communities where students have diverse backrounds and high needs. Teachers collaborated and students were actively engaged in the learning process. Participants attending this session will leave with the knowedge that a few basic tools can engage students and helps students develop communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills along with knowledge of content areas (in this case, weather science and ELA along with video production). Participants will also see the final projects that were presented to the school along with our administrators and district leaders who were in attendance.
