Erica Trowbridge has been the Secondary Media Specialist at Oakridge Public Schools in Muskegon, Michigan for 12 years. Prior to that, she was a Teacher Leader for Library Technology Specialists at National Heritage Academies. She has presented at MAME (now MASL) conferences, MACUL conferences, the Learning on the Lakeshore and Wired TC conference. Erica was the President of MAME (now MASL) in 2022 and served on the MACUL Leadership team for several years as the Director of the Special Interest Group for School Librarians.

Session description

Take a look at how one educator weaves technology into the library services at Oakridge Middle and High Schools. Learn how to use tools like BreakoutEDU, Meta Quests VR headsets, Drones, Databases, ebooks, etc. to collaborate with teachers of all subject areas.

Purpose & objective

Introduce educators/librarians to the Oakridge Secondary Library.
Participants will learn about the technology tools we use in the secondary library.
Participants will learn about the Michigan REMC loan program, Breakout EDU, Meta Quests, and drone usage.
Participants will learn about strategies for collaborating with subject area teachers.

Brief overview of the Oakridge Library (5 minutes)
