My name is Kwaku Aning and I am the Director of the Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Thinking at the San Diego Jewish Academy but I have had the privilege to work in various roles within public charter and private schools over the past 23 years within education. In my current and previous roles I have had the privilege to work with students on various STEAM and Project Based Learning projects utilizing robotics, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality, and projection mapping.

In those years I have taught students in 4th and 5th grade, worked with students in math and behavior intervention, and most recently, I am a 6th grade social studies, ELA and science teacher. Deidre Roemer is the Assistant Superintendent for the West Allis West Milwaukee School District. Prior to that role she served as the Director of Leadership and Learning, the Coordinator of Special Education, an instructional coach, and a classroom teacher for twelve years in Illinois, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Iowa, and Minnesota in a variety of grade levels. Her philosophy of education has always been to empower every learner to be curious, try anything, work hard and prepare for life after school. She is also an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a contributing author of Because of a Teacher by George Couros.

Find out how how districts can best implement metaverse and virtual reality technologies to provide inclusive and accessible immersive learning experiences for all. Join school leaders and classroom educators join in our discussion on best practices, finding the right partners, erasing barriers to entry, teacher training, and stories of implementation.

Outline

Content and activities: In this presentation we will discuss:
- the process for introducing teachers to VR
- training teachers to plan PBL units which empowers students to create with VR
- preparing headsets for deployment within a district with multiple schools
- overall program design

The audience will be able to participate through out this panel through asking questions about the process.

Time: We will dedicate roughly 20 minutes to each topic

Process: We plan to use traditional engagement tools like turn and talks and question and answer
