Sharing the power of Flip in Higher Education

Session description

Explore how Flip is being used in public and private institutions of higher education in the US and abroad. Flip is a free, safe, ad-free video platform designed by a college professor that makes interacting with students easier and more fun!

Purpose & objective

Purpose: To empower fellow Higher Ed faculty and staff to use Flip on/around their campuses in a sustained fashion when they return home.

Objectives: Participants will learn the following:

1. What Flip is and a basic overview of how to use the platform
2. How they can create videos for their students + how their students can create videos
3. Different examples of how Flip is being used in the Higher Education space

Outline

Content: Microsoft Flip introduction/refresher, demonstration of video creation, use cases of Flip in Higher Ed spaces

Activities: Engaging lecture from presenter (10min max), interactive experimentation with participants their devices (phone, tablet or laptop) (15min max), participant brainstorming in pairs -- share out with larger group (10-15min), Participants use QR code to access Higher Ed use cases and pairs take turns watching them and discussing (15min)
Exit ticket: participants must tell presenter ONE different way Flip can be used in Higher Ed either from something they saw OR from their own imagination!
