Dr. John Wick is the principal of a Catholic TK-8th grade school in just North of Los Angeles California. He has served for 14 years in education leading schools and teaching courses that range from Studio arts to Middle school Science. Having taught students in every grade from Kindergarten to 8th grade He targets his leadership and instruction based upon the developmental level of the students. He has worked as the director of education for a neuroeducation startup company and desires to help all teachers and students succeed.

Session description

Learn how to leverage SLACK to streamline your work communications for the entire school year. You will have the opportunity to create and use your own SLACK channel, as well as join the unofficial ISTE Philadelphia channel for fun and excitement with your fellow attendees.

Purpose & objective

Participants will be able to set up and establish a SLACK workstation and channels for personal and professional use. This will help them when they return to their school communities and wish to start using the application in their work environment.

Outline

- Introduction: 5-10 minutes

-Examples - Highlight examples from Dr. Wick's current school - 10 minutes

- Showcasing SLACK: Everyone downloads on their current device and adds the workspace created for the conference - 5-10 minutes

- Grouping and creation - Room will be broken down into several groups 3-5 groups each charged with coming up with their own channel to use at the conference. and add members to the channels - 5-10 minutes

-Q and A - 10 minutes
