Purpose & objective

*Participants will be able to serve as digital mentors that can nurture early childhood kids' development as responsible consumers and creators of technology.

*Participants will feel empowered to support families to also serve as media mentors.

*Participants will unpack the research about young children's technology use for an understanding of media balance focused on creation vs. consumption.

*Participants will acquire strategies that help develop balanced and healthy digital habits for early childhood students in their classroom as well as analyze impactful learning activities.

I currently serve as an Education Consultant with ESU 3 supporting 18 districts in the Omaha, Nebraska metro area with a focus on instructional technology professional learning. I started my career as an elementary sixth-grade teacher, technology specialist, and served as an instructional facilitator at the school level. I served for 8 years as an Instructional Technology Trainer for Omaha Public Schools. As an educator and leader with 23 years of experience, I am passionate about building relationships and making connections to support growth and needed change to impact student learning.

I work in collaboration with Common Sense Media to help educators, students, and families approach media and technology thoughtfully while building healthy habits at school and at home. By providing trustworthy, research-based information, we help navigate the ever-changing world of media and technology to build a more healthy, equitable, and empowering future for all kids.
