Do you want to foster self-regulation skills in the classroom but don't know where to start? Come and learn how to design and apply a blended-learning environment based on personalized playlists. We'll share resources, real-world examples and students testimonies.

Purpose & objective

Attendees will learn how to design and implement a blended learning approach designed to foster the self-regulation and decision-making skills of their students.

Attendees will learn how to individualize the learning of their students by using personalized playlists that meet students' needs.

Attendees will learn how to design different blended learning activities that will fill their students' playlists using tools such as:
Flipgrid, Stream, Forms, Minecraft, Teams, OneNote, Sway, PowerPoint recorder, Wakelet, Nearpod and more.

Attendees will learn how to spark self-regulation in their classes using different strategies such as weekly goals, self-evaluation, and peer-evaluation.

Attendees will also learn how to transform their classroom into a 21st-century classroom space by creating working spaces (flexible seating)

Outline

5 mins: Opening and introduction. Presenters background and why this is important for the session and the topic.

15 mins: Background and importance of personalized learning. Lack of self-regulation skills in the 21st century, student centered approach.

15 mins: Explanation of our model . How and why we designed it in that way.

15 mins: Tools that we use to design the activities that are in the students' playlist. Share examples and tutorials.

5 mins: Resources will be shared with the attendees for them to start their own self-regulation program that fits their students and community needs.

5 mins: Questions and concerns.

Alberto was born and raised in Salamanca, Spain and moved to Utah several years ago to teach in a Spanish immersion school. He graduated from the University of Valladolid with a Bachelors in Education and attended the University of Utah where he graduated with a Masters in Education. Apart from being a 5th grade teacher, Alberto has developed the brand eTwinz with his twin brother, Mario. The eTwinz are international speakers and consultants who help teachers around the world to transform their practice.
