Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

The challenge addressed is transforming technological practices in the classroom by building the knowledge base of educators through the utilization of instructional technology coaches. Our district utilized instructional technology coaches to build capacity which directly impacted effectiveness and performance. The purpose of this session is to showcase our Instructional Technology Coach program and teach other districts how they can adopt this model to pave the way for future learning. Our Instructional Technology Coach program was centered around an Integration Innovator Academy and an effective coaching cycle model. These two major components in conjunction with each other proved to be highly successful with our teachers. Our Integration Academies empowers teachers, increases their understanding of effective technology usage and capacity, and greatly impacts students. Participants will receive models, strategies, and ways they can effectively support themselves and other educators at their schools. Participants will also be provided guidance in how to encourage administrators to rethink staff development, in addition to ways they can convey authenticity in commitment to technology. Integration innovation Academy examples will be given with evidence of the impacts within their schools.

Because of a focused design plan with our academy and coaching cycle, we have seen an increased interest in teachers using digital tools and resources with their students; and in turn, an increased usage of these tools being used with students with content appropriateness.

Because of a focused design plan with our administrator academies, we have seen increased interest in administrators using digital tools and resources with their teachers; and in turn, an increased usage of these tools being used with students with content appropriateness.
