Participants will:
-Engage in an overview of the ISTE Education Leaders Standards and the Professional Learning Standards.
-Engage in the Equity & Citizenship activity as a model to the rationale and planning for professional growth
-Brainstorm questions and ideas for another ISTE EL standard of their choice along with resource gathering to enhance their toolkit
-Create connections to at least one ISTE EL Standard aligned to a Professional Learning Standard and align with an accountability partner in the session to potentially work with in the future.
Timeline:
Introduction-purpose of the alignment between the ISTE Education Leader Standards and the Professional Learning Standards, short overview of both (5 minutes)
Purpose- Explain how this came about here in my district to develop perspective leaders in goal setting and culture shift in their building. Breaking down why its important to start with one area vs the whole (10 minutes)
Process & Exploration- Using the template I created participants will work on an abbreviated version of the activity. Participants will scan articles A&B discuss if these were appropriate resources and look through the questions generated in the table alignment of standards. We will look at the jamboard component together as see if this is the best way to gather information when planning our question alignment. (10 minutes)
Next participants will choose their own standard to work on, the groups will be broken up by choice. Each group will get a copy of the chart and can work on collecting resources and develop questions for their ISTE Standard aligned to the Professional Learning Standard. (15)
Whole group share out to explain why they choose what they did and how they can improve this process, how can you track the work you hope to do with your school or schools? (5 minutes)

Presently I am an, NYCDOE EdTech Citywide Lead, and a member of the NYCDOE for over 16+ years in various capacities. I spent 7 years as an elementary classroom teacher, 3 as a technology coach, 6 years as an EdTech Instructional Lead for District 31 supporting 71+ schools and now as a citywide edtech lead supporting all 5 borough in the NYCDOE. My experiences have been around edtech visioning, professional developing/planning/teaming, infusion of the ISTE standards for all, growth of SAMR and content infused technology along with leadership development with digital citizenship being at the helm of my work.
