Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

Students can master content when they have a voice to communicate their thinking routines as a way to construct, deepen, and apply their learning. This can be captured in a classroom through student portfolios that document how thinking routines are used to create meaning and acquire learning throughout the instructional experience, with mastery demonstrated through original products of learning in which students apply their learning and justify their thinking. Free technology solutions such as Flipgrid and Wakelet can assist in documenting this learning progress/thinking and increasing digital collaboration.

As a former middle school classroom/science teacher, my presentation focusses on tools and techniques that held me in good stead as I juggled through the many challenges of remote teaching-learning under lockdown.
