Explore the digital citizenship pillars in this immersive VR maze. We will learn about each pillar as we make choices. Good choices will get you successfully through the maze while the bad choices will lead to dead ends.

Participant accounts, software and other materials: Mozilla Hubs is cross-platform, meaning it can be accessed on most connected devices. Any of the above devices will work, including VR headsets.

Proposal summary

Purpose & objective

The experience will demonstrate the use of immersive technology to cover content, rather than just showing the technology. We will learn about Mozilla Hubs, but we will learn while navigating through the maze. The participants will have access to the maze to share with students in the future or use in professional development sessions.

Outline of the DigCit VR Journey
1. Explore Mozilla Hubs and learn how to navigate in the space.
2. Discuss the Digital Citizenship pillars
3. Walk participants into the maze and allow them to ask questions as needed
4. Celebrate success at the completion of the maze

Dr. Marialice B.F.X. Curran is the Founder and Executive Director of the Digital Citizenship Institute. Her advanced graduate and doctoral studies on adolescent development at Boston College reinforced her commitment to service learning as Dr. Curran leads by hand, heart and mind. As a mother and a connected educator, she has served as an associate professor, middle school teacher, principal and library media specialist.

She’s also an author and speaker on the practical use of augmented reality and virtual reality in the classroom.
